Nancy Richards-Akers

1951-1999

SMRW honors the memory of Washington DC Romance Author, Nancy Richards-Akers, by helping other women who are victims of Domestic Violence.  Nancy was suddenly taken from us in 1999 when she was shot to death by her abusive husband.

You too can help in the fight against domestic violence by making donations to the Nancy Richards-Akers fund which will go to help a local charity chosen by the Smoky Mountain Romance Writers.

At the annual Mountain Laurel Conference attendees give graciously through the purchase of ribbons, book thongs, and window clings to raise money for this fund.  If you would like to donate a basket, contact us for more information.
